'An understanding of the value of an object can be obtained from an acknowledgment of it’s history, requiring us to peer into it’s process and origin, to undo the simplified assumption of “knowing it” in order to recover instead some sense of its repressed identity. One can begin to approach the identity of an object by noting the affordance of the medium: this language providing a valuable vocabulary for registering the ways in which textual materiality shapes meaning.'

'The principle objectives of clothing to offer any - if not all - of the following: protection, modesty, adornment and status. Upon being deemed unfit for wear however the muses of the artist’s Toile, illustrating flawed and damaged items of clothing, are consequently stripped of their use-value. This re-purposing of the design within the format of a dress serving to indicate the possibilities for action towards the individual through assigning the work a pertinent sense of applicability. The resulting piece seeking to elevate discarded commodities through referencing traditional styles and modes of production within design, all the while providing a poetic and critical observation on issues surrounding commerce.'
